I write, speak, and teach about foreign policy, great power politics, authoritarian leaders, the geopolitics of NATO’s Eastern Flank - from the Baltics to the Black Sea, and the best ways of preparing for the future - anticipation, forecasting, and strategic foresight.
I am Senior Fellow and Director of the Transatlantic Program at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and an expert forecaster and Senior Consultant for Good Judgment, Inc. I was a Superforecaster in the US intelligence community sponsored geopolitical forecasting competition Good Judgment Project.
I published several academic articles and book chapters and my public commentary appeared in The Globe and Mail, National Post, Toronto Star, Toronto Sun, Inside Policy and other media outlets. I regularly contribute to CBC, CTV, Global News, and national radio shows.
I give talks and facilitate workshops on geopolitical forecasting and strategic foresight for various organizations. Previous clients include several government agencies in the U.S., Canada, and Europe - including the armed forces of NATO member states - major financial institutions, UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, and leading universities in the US, Canada, and Europe.
Previously, I held faculty positions in Denmark, the US, and Turkey and taught graduate-level courses on Transatlantic security, geopolitical forecasting, strategic foresight, and global catastrophic and existential risks. I am also an Adjunct Research Professor at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University.
Follow me on Twitter and sign up for my newsletter, Hindsight 20/20, where I write - irregularly - on geopolitics and forecasting/foresight.
